Our flagship store in Covent Garden, London, has been opening its doors since January 1901 and can justly claim to offer the world's largest stock of maps and travel books under one roof. It has been an essential first port of call for adventure and armchair travellers alike for more than a century. Our roll call of customers past and present includes such famous names as David Livingstone, Amy Johnson, Scott of the Antarctic, Ernest Shackleton, Florence Nightingale, Ranulph Fiennes, Bill Bryson, Michael Palin, and even Sherlock Holmes...

Stanfords in Covent Garden, London, is Stanfords' flagship store. Along with the in-store Café Copia and Craghoppers outlet, it is conveniently situated on Long Acre, just a few minutes' walk from both Covent Garden and Leicester Square tube stations.

The Stanfords store in Bristol was our first branch to launch outside of London and the doors were opened 10 years ago by the great travel writer Eric Newby. Located at 29 Corn Street near to the Floating Harbour, the branch is in the heart of Bristol's market centre.
